CROWDS gathered in Bishop Auckland town centre to cheer on bus drivers, rugby players and supermarket staff as they towed a 59-seat bus in a charity effort.
The sponsored event in Newgate Street involved staff from Garnett Coaches, the local Asda supermarket and members of the town's rugby club, all pulling together to make a sick youngster's dream come true.
It was organised by pensioner Joyce Dowson, from South Church, who wanted to help to raise the money for three-year-old cancer sufferer Megan Lockey, from Walkworth Avenue, Bishop Auckland, to visit America with her family.
Mrs Dowson said: "It is that little girl's dream to go to Disney World to see the Princess's Palace, and I want to raise as much money as I can to get her there.''
She approached her nephews and nieces, who run Garnett Coaches, for their help.
They took the coach off the road for the afternoon and enlisted the help of drivers to make the event possible.
Mrs Dowson said she had been delighted with the response from people.
She said: "Today has been brilliant. The police have been very helpful and so have staff from Asda and the rugby lads.''
