MOTHERS across the country have been waiting nervously for their children's exam results, but a few actually sat the examinations themselves.
Two mature French language students at Bishop Auckland College were delighted when they received their A-level results, after having fitted their studies around numerous family commitments and other responsibilities.
Margaret Jackson, from Bishop Auckland, and Rian Torres, from Sedgefield, both achieved A grades.
Rian said: "With all the pressures of being a wife and a mother and working part-time I felt that my adult learning was the only thing I did for myself. I really enjoyed the course and found it a way to relax."
Lecturer Caroline Tucker said: "I am delighted with the success of our students - it is well deserved. This year's language results have been excellent again. Our students achieved 100 per cent pass rates in French and Spanish AS and A-level.
"It just shows what Lifelong Learning can achieve.
