THE annual Royal Air Forcves Association Yorkshire and eastern Region's Battle of Britain Commemoration took place at the Yorkshire Air Museum today.
Around 1,000 association members attended the event at Elvington, near York, which featured the Band of the Royal Air Force College from RAF Cranwell and a spectacular fly past by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire.
A commemoration service was then held in the museum's memorial hangar, which was taken by Rev Norman Berryman, Padre to 609 Squadron Association.
A parade and marchpast followed this, with Air Chief Marshal Sir John Willis, president of the North East Region RAFA taking the salute.
The event was brought to a fitting close with a flypast by the Universities Air Squadron and a sunset ceremony and playing of the Evening Hymn.
