BOXING stars Nigel Benn and Joe Calzaghe are among a host of sporting names who are to attend a tribute event for North Yorkshire boxer Paul Ingle.
The Scarborough fighter was badly injured in a world title fight, last December.
Ingle, who has been told he will not be able to box again, spent several months in hospital recovering from severe head injuries.
Now a football match, which will be filmed as part of the Dream Team series, is to be staged at the town's McCain Stadium.
Boxers Ricky Hatton and Spencer Oliver will feature in a Paul Ingle All-Star Xl along with Middlesbrough footballer Jono Greening and jockey Franny Norton, against the stars of Sky TV's fictional football drama The Dream Team, Harchester United.
The match will be followed by a dinner, said promoter Frank Maloney, whose Sports Network company is organising the event.
"It will be like a footballer's testimonial and will give Scarborough people, and the boxing community, the chance to give something back to Paul for all he has done for the town, and the sport," said Mr Maloney.
All proceeds from the event and from a charity auction will go to Ingle.
The boxer, now well on the road to recovery, said: "I really appreciate what is being done, and I am looking forward to being manager of my own football team for the day."
