A 21st century couple returned to the Dark Ages when they tied the knot at the weekend.
Matthew King and Rebecca Johnson are so obsessed with all things historical that they dressed up like a medieval king and queen for their special day.
Matthew, 32, and Rebecca, 31, who build dry stone walls for a living, donned medieval clothes for the wedding, at Hartforth Hall, near Richmond, North Yorkshire.
The love-struck couple managed a medieval joust, dance and sing-a-long before tying the knot in a traditional 12th Century ceremony.
Rebecca, from Darlington, said last night: "We are both really into history, and so I decided it would be nice to get married in a traditional medieval way.
"Everyone came dressed up for the ceremony and hopefully it has been a nice change from the usual type of ceremony."
More than 100 guests attended the wedding, which was followed by a feast and more dancing.
The coupe began dating when they were both archaeology students, and have been smitten ever since.
Rebecca said: "We have known each other for ages, but neither of us thought it would ever blossom into marriage.
"We are on top of the world."
