A FISH and chip shop celebrated its anniversary by giving away a mountain bike to one of its customers.
Beedles Chippy, in Oaklea Terrace, Cockton Hill, Bishop Auckland, first opened its doors ten years ago and owner Peter Beedle wanted to do something special to mark the occasion.
Customers coming to the shop were entered into a free prize draw to win the bike.
The lucky winner was ten-year-old Swales Howard, from nearby Auckland Park.
The youngster was thrilled with his prize and could not wait to get home to try it out when he was presented with the bike.
His aunt, Gail Manson, said: "He is over the moon that he has won the bike and could not wait to pick it up so he could have a ride on it.''
About 550 customers were entered into the draw to win the bike.
Mr Beedle said the competition had generated a lot of interest. A further five winners won prizes of free fish and chips.
He said: "We wanted to do something to say thank you to all the customers that have come through in the past ten years.''
