POLICE investigating a possible hit-and-run accident that resulted in a man's death are carrying out tests on two damaged vehicles.
Experts were yesterday trying to find out if the vehicles had any connection with the death of Edward Anderson.
Mr Anderson's body was found beside the A172, between Poole Roundabout, Middlesbrough, and Stokesley, North Yorkshire, early on Friday.
The Great Ayton man, who was in his 50s, had suffered severe head injuries.
Police recovered the vehicles locally over the weekend.
Officers are keen to hear from all garages in the area about any others that have been brought in for repairs to accident damage.
Acting Inspector Andy Greenwood said: "We are broadening the inquiry to look at vehicles that have recent accident damage.
"We have had an excellent response from the public to our appeals over Mr Anderson's death.
"We have spoken to several witnesses who saw him walking along Stokesley Road from the bus stop outside the Southern Cross pub.
"We have also managed to trace all the vehicles that stopped after the body was found."
