A MAN and a woman in their 20s were both taken to hospital with serious injuries after a head-on car crash.
The accident happended in the early hours of this morning.
The cars collided on an unclassified road at Burnhope near Stanley shortly before 1am
. The 29-year-old male driver of a Rover 220 had head injuries and a broken leg and arm. The 24-year-old female driver of a Peugeot had a broken hip and internal injuries. Both were taken to Durham City's University Hospital.
