A COMPUTER "gym" for elderly and disabled people has visited a Newton Aycliffe estate.
It has been described as a cross between a mobile library and a mobile home, only full of computers.
The initiative, which visited Home Housing's sheltered accommodation on the Bluebell Close estate, has full disability access, allowing people who would not normally be able to use a computer to receive full training.
Maureen Plunkett, development worker with Home Housing, said: "The gym gives the residents of Bluebell Close an opportunity of a workout on a computer with full Internet access and digital photography."
Coun Vince Crosby, who attended the opening, said: "Home Housing should be congratulated on this initiative.
"It is something that allows the older and disabled residents to get training with the use of computers, and I hope this will become a regular event for the residents of Bluebell Close."
The gym has already visited other Home Housing sites, in Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle
