A Buddy Holly memento from Stockton is expected to fetch up to £400 when it is auctioned at Sotheby's, in London, on September 20.

The handbill gives details of the singer's concert in the Teesside town on March 15, 1958. The following year, Holly was killed in an plane crash, 1959 at the age of 22.

Just three months before his show at Stockton, Holly celebrated his first UK top ten record, Peggy Sue.

Shortly after his visit to Teesside, his second UK top ten hit, Rave On, entered the record charts.

Just days after his death, the singer achieved his first number one record in the UK, with It Doesn't Matter Anymore.

A supporting act at Buddy Holly's Stockton show was a promising 25-year-old UK entertainer. His name was Des O'Connor.
