GARDENERS in Durham are gearing up for the city's show this weekend.
The event will be held in the town hall on Friday and Saturday, and will attract hundreds of entries in 96 classes covering vegetables, flowers, floral arrangements, cookery, preserves, country wines, textiles, crafts and children's work.
Andrew Jackson, of organiser Durham City Council, said: "This show has become a major event in the North-East horticultural calendar.
"There is something for everyone here, and the standard of entries is always outstanding. The City of Durham Show is a real treat for active and armchair gardeners."
The show is open from 11am to 6pm on Friday, and between 10am and 3pm on Saturday.
Admission is 50p for adults, and includes a brochure. Children get in for free.
Proceeds will go to Durham Mayor George Cowper's Helping Hands appeal.
