SOME of the country's most famous sporting names clubbed together yesterday to help a toddler suffering from a terminal condition.
English cricket legend Ian Botham organised a celebrity golf day in aid of two-year-old Olivia Webster, who has spinal muscular dystrophy, a neuro-muscular condition which prevents her from standing or walking unaided.
Her parents, Helen and Rupert Webster, of Northallerton, North Yorkshire, launched an appeal earlier this year to raise thousands of pounds to help them make several alterations to their home, which would make Olivia's life more comfortable.
Mr Botham fulfilled his promise to help the family by bringing a host of big names from the world of sport to Romanby Golf Club, near Northallerton, for yesterday's event.
Among the celebrity golfers were Newcastle Falcons boss Rob Andrew, with team-mates Jonny Wilkinson and Inga Tuigamala, Darren Gough and commentator David Lloyd.
It is hoped the event will have raised thousands of pounds for the Olivia Webster Trust.
