MIKKO Koivunoro and another unnamed player flew into Tyneside today to give director of hockey Glenn Mulvenna a welcome boost.
The Newcastle Jesters boss has been given five extra days to put his side together for the start of the season with the announcement earlier today that this weekend's games have been cancelled.
And more players are due to fly in tomorrow ready for a training session on Friday.
The Northern Echo understands that among those to have signed are former Newcastle favourite Rob Trumbley, ex-Belfast and NHL goalie Derek Wilkinson and ex-Manchester Storm D-man Troy Neumeier.
Also linked with the team has been winger Jason Weaver, formerly with the Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers, while it is understood two of last season's players have yet to resign, despite talks with Mulvenna.
David Clarke and Matt Oates are both on the coach's hit list, but are among the players still awaiting payment from last season.
However, a source close to the deal has told The Northern Echo the payment is now only subject to clearance of funds.
And the club is almost certain to play the next scheduled game, at home to Ayr Scottish Eagles on Thursday, September 12.
"The team will definitely be playing in that game," said the source. "Players and the strips are coming in now."
