MEMBERS of an environmental charity have completed a coast to coast cycle ride.
The Acorn Trust, which is based in Consett, raises awareness of environmental issues throughout Derwentside and manages wildlife sites in the area.
Four members of the charity's staff undertook the cycle ride, known as the C2C, last week to celebrate the trust's tenth anniversary, raise awareness of its work and promote sustainable transport.
The quartet, Steve McDonald, Alan Platt, Kath Ivens and Brian Stobbs, cycled from Whitehaven, in Cumbria, to Sunderland.
They stopped at Stanley en route for the opening of a cycle link between Stanley town centre and the C2C route.
The ride raised £350 in sponsorship, which will be used to fund environmental projects.
