Gary Shaw celebrated taking all ten wickets when Hospitals played Belford House in the First Division of the Roseberry Group North-East Durham League.
The paceman finished with the magnificent figures of 10-39 from 20.5 overs leading his side to an emphatic victory but Belford House were the first to congratulate him.
"I had twice previously taken eight wickets against Craghead and North Bitchburn so it was a wonderful feeling to claim all ten," exclaimed Gary who has played for Hospitals for the last 11 years after starting as a junior with Ryhope.
"When I had taken the first six wickets, it just occured to me that I might be in with a chance of bagging the lot! I suppose my luck was in because Paul Tansey had a catch dropped off his bowling and when Belford House were eight down, one of their players just escaped being run out.
"I was feeling a bit tired towards the end but I suppose the possibility of creating a record drove me on. It was a wonderful feeling when the last wicket went down," said an ebullient Gary who captains the side which also includes his brothers Glen and Wayne.
