The fortunes of Boldon CA have swiftly changed after failing to score a goal and conceding nine in the first three games.
But new management duo Graham Bond and Dennis Massingham were not deterred and they have been rewarded with two 4-1 victories and a 1-1 draw.
"There were some big changes at the club during the summer when former boss David Jones joined Harton and Westoe. The committee asked Graham and me to take over and we only had five of last season's squad when we came in.
"The results in the early games were poor and we could have gone down like the Titanic but everybody kept their heads up and the last three results have been superb," claimed Massingham.
"It is never easy going to Whitehaven. The early start means taking a weakened side but we won 4-1 and produced a great result in our next game holding Harton and Westoe to a draw after ending the game with eight players."
The League has decided that the game will be replayed after the referee called a halt with six minutes remaining when a player broke his leg. Boldon were reduced to ten men shortly after half time and on the hour had another couple sent off.
"It was unbelievable that we managed to survive with eight players for almost 30 minutes and the game ended 1-1," Massingham said.
Boldon's latest result was at the weekend when they secured a 4-1 victory for the second time in three outings, defeating Ferryhill Athletic.
"We are now playing some good football. At the start we were banging the ball up the field and it was coming straight back but we are putting some good moves together and causing problems for the opposition," claimed Massingham who admits that tomorrow's game at Stokesley SC will be another big test.
"Stokesley are playing really well and are joint top so we will find out just how far we have come. Manager Graham Bond and I feel that we need a couple of experienced heads in the team and we hope to make signings in the near future but overall, we feel we are on the right track."
