A SUSPENDED NHS surgeon has resigned from her post.
Breast care specialist Diana Reinbach, 43, was investigated by the Royal College Surgeons (RCS) after concerns were raised about her work at Scarborough Hospital.
While the RCS found her breast care work to be satisfactory, concerns about other aspects of her work led to her suspension six months ago.
It is understood that the consultant general surgeon resigned by mutual consent after it became apparent that Scarborough Hospital did not provide enough specialist work for Miss Reinbach, who had a particular interest in treating breast disease.
A spokeswoman for Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust said: "The RCS inquiry raised concerns about whether Miss Reinbach would be fully confident and competent in all possible general surgical situations, and for this reason she was suspended by the trust in March."
The spokeswoman said it was hoped that Miss Reinbach will be successful in obtaining employment in a larger hospital "where her specialist breast care skills can be exclusively utilised without the need to undertake the full range of surgical work".
