A YOUNG footballer could not believe his luck when he was given a once in a lifetime chance to train with footballing legend Alan Shearer.
Nine-year-old Ian Briggs, from Rectory Lane, Wolsingham, won a day with Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer in a national competition run by the Disney Channel.
Ian won the golden opportunity after writing a paragraph about himself and why he should win the prize.
He then spent the day at the Magpie's training ground, Maiden Castle in Durham, where he was given some expert advice by Alan Shearer and a free football kit.
A spokeswoman for the Disney Channel said: "He had the most amazing day, it was beyond his wildest dreams. He was over the moon about it. He had one to one training and spent time with Shearer, picking up tips."
