TWO teenagers and their horses were double winners at the recent British Dressage under 21 national championships.
Anne-Marie Perry, 14, of Elwick, Hartlepool, won the pony dressage derby final and Sophie Barker, 15, of Yarm, did the same in the junior/young rider dressage derby at the Sheepgate equestrian centre in Lincolnshire.
Competitors ride two tests on the first day, from which the best four scores overall go forward to the derby final the next day.
Those four riders each ride the same tests on each of the four mounts and the rider with the highest score overall is the winner. The pony with the best score for all four tests also wins a sash.
Mrs Lesley Perry, who trains her daughter with help from Patsy Bartram, said: "Not only did Anne-Marie and Sophie both win their respective finals, but their horses also won the best horse sashes."
Anne-Marie's pony is a Welsh Cob Section D called Maesyfron Rhett. Sophie, who is trained by Kirsty Semple, has a thoroughbred horse called Peter Rabbit.
