A YOUNG Newcastle United fan won the chance to train with football star Alan Shearer.
Ian Briggs, nine, from Rectory Lane, Wolsingham, won a day with the Magpies and former England striker in a national competition run by the children's satellite station, the Disney Channel.
To win his prize, Ian correctly answered a question on how many goals the Newcastle United captain had scored for England.
The Wolsingham Primary School pupil spent the day at the team's training ground at Maiden Castle, Durham City, with the other winners, and received a signed football and football kit.
His mother, Susan, said: "Ian is a big fan of Newcastle and Alan Shearer is his hero. He really spent a lot of time with the children.
"He tackled Ian a couple of times, but as a little nine-year-old boy he had no chance."
As soon as training finished, the lucky youngster jetted off to Disneyland in Florida for a family holiday
