A NEWLY-WED couple are enjoying a Caribbean honeymoon blissfully unaware that treasured pictures of their perfect day have been stolen from a photographer's car.
Everything went smoothly for 21-year-old Deborah Sutton and her bridegroom Jamie Ellison, 25, whose marriage at St Mary's RC Church, Bishop Auckland, was followed by a reception and party at Whitworth Hall, near Spennymoor.
Deborah's parents, Brian and Denise, had specially fond memories of the day because it was the first time since their own wedding 27 years ago that all their family were together.
Now they dare not tell the couple that precious rolls of film recording the wedding have been stolen from photographer Helen Dyson.
They were taken with camera equipment while her car was parked at The Ship inn, at Saltburn, near Redcar, as she was checking a future booking.
Helen is so upset that her bosses have offered a £1,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the thief.
She has also toured Saltburn searching for the films and handed out leaflets pleading for them to be returned.
Mr Sutton said: "The day could not have been more perfect but this is devastating. The films are worth nothing to the thief, but they mean everything to us and we are desperate to get them back."
The films were in an aluminium camera case in the boot of Helen's blue Peugeot 106.
