A WOMEN'S education and training project is looking to fill places on its courses.

The Bridge Women's Education and Support Project, at Chester-le-Street, is offering subjects including computing, crafts, confidence-building, tai chi and first aid.

The classes are held on weekdays, during school afternoons. A free creche is available.

The project is funded by Durham County Council, the Adult Community Learning Fund, the Lloyds TSB Foundation and the European Social Fund.

The project also offers a one-to-one listening service for women who need someone to talk to.

The project is holding enrolment sessions today and tomorrow, between 9.30am and 2.30pm, at its headquarters at 1 High Chare, Chester-le-Street, and at Ouston Community Centre.

Suzanne Hall, training and development worker with the group, said: "We currently support more than 250 women and have made a real impact in the 18 months we've been operating.

"I hope as many people as possible come along to the enrolment days to see what we've got to offer.

"We are also on the look-out for volunteers to help run the service. It is a very friendly set-up and everyone is welcome to come along and see what we're about.''

Anyone wanting more information is asked to call the project, on 0191-389 1504.
