AN east Cleveland community is facing disruption as it undergoes extensive roadworks.
Liverton Road, passing through the village of Liverton Mines, near Loftus, will be closed for three weeks from next Monday to allow reconstruction of Liverton Bank, resurfacing of the road between the railway bridge and the Station Hotel, and major drainage improvements.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council said the road closure was necessary for public safety and the safety of site personnel. A special shuttle service will be introduced as normal bus services will be severely disrupted.
Various road closures will be introduced across the village to allow for drainage and resurfacing work. Access to streets will be maintained for residents, businesses and emergency vehicles only.
Residents used to parking their cars on stretches of street will have to make alternative arrangements until early October. Anyone with special access requirements should contact the council on (01642) 4444619 or 444814.
