A POET is teaming up with a Danish popstar and a samba band to help take the mystery out of poetry.
Singer-songwriter Louise Dal and Sunderland's SunSamba drum band will join Durham County Council's poet-in residence, Kevin Cadwallender, for a roadshow next month.
The event is part of the Sharp Stick initiative, organised by the council to promote poetry.
Mr Cadwallender said: "The roadshow will be loud, brash and provocative, as well as great fun and very different.
"SunSamba have been going for five years now, playing Afro-Brazilian percussion music.
"They are great believers in promoting music participation for all.
"The singer-songwriter Louise Dal will complete the line-up, bringing her great voice and new, lyrical songs."
The roadshow will tour several venues.
As well as appearing at Bishop Auckland Town Hall, it will visit Peterlee, Consett and Belmont libraries, and the Flame Arts Project in Chester-le-Street
