THE new Richmond Post Office opened its doors to the public for the first time yesterday.
The counter service relocated at the weekend from Queen's Road to the former Tabwell Tools store, in Finkle Street.
Management are satisfied the new base nearer the town centre will prove popular.
"The new post office is more central and we hope our customers will be delighted with the new location," said spokes-man Paul Johnson.
Both the former sorting office and the Queen's Road building which housed the counters are destined to become the town's newest nightspot.
Contractors working for pub chain J D Wetherspoon's are due to arrive next month to begin a £1m redevelopment scheme.
The building will reopen as The Ralph Fitz Randal, honouring the man who helped the Grey Friars settle in the town in the 13th Century
