POLICE in Darlington are investigating a number of thefts from cars in the town.
Thieves broke into a Vauxhall Astra, in Lyonette Road, between 1am and 7.45am on Monday.
They took a 200-leaf compact disc case, containing a large quantity of compact discs by a variety of artists, with an estimated value of more than £800.
At 3am yesterday, a silver Peugeot 206 was broken into in Helmsdale Close by thieves who stole 400 cigarettes - 200 Embassy Regal and 200 Silk Cut.
In Melville Street, a second Astra was broken into between 5pm on Saturday and 6am on Monday. Taken from vehicle was a Blaupunkt radio cassette player and nine cassettes.
