A GOOD-natured dog which has been without a home for six months is looking for a new owner.
Ben, a two-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross, is being looked after by the National Animal Sanctuaries Support League at its kennels at Burdon Grange, near Darlington.
Pauline Wilson, from the league, said: "He has been neutered and fully vaccinated and he is desperately looking for a home.
"He is not the prettiest of dogs, but he has a very loving temperament and he is a nice dog and would make a nice family pet."
Ben was taken in by the kennels when the couple who owned him separated and were unable to look after him.
Anyone able to offer Ben a home can contact Pauline Wilson on (01325) 321855 or 07748 268822.
Meanwhile, a German shepherd dog which was staying at the league's kennels has found a new home following an appeal in The Northern Echo.
Sam, a two-year-old which was rejected by Durham Constabulary, has been taken in by a couple living on a 200 acre fish farm at Masham.
Mrs Wilson said: "The phone never stopped after the story appeared. I just sat in the office for two days.
"Now he has got a lovely home with lovely people."
