AN auction at an Irish bar has seen Darlington's St Teresa's Hospice receive a £600 boost.
Mick McCarthy's, in Duke Street, held a charity auction night with more than 20 lots, including signed football memorabilia.
Included in the items on offer was a Newcastle United shirt signed by club captain Alan Shearer and two Middlesbrough FC pennants signed by the team.
Underwear from Anne Summers was also auctioned, while staff from the pub clubbed together to buy a stereo system which was raffled on the night.
Pub manager Chris Kipling said: "All the staff and customers rallied around to get some great items for the auction, including signed football shirts from Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Darlington.
"There was fierce bidding for some of the items and we are delighted to be able to present St Teresa's Hospice with such a magnificent sum."
Hospice director Jane Bradshaw said: "We are very grateful to everyone at McCarthy's bar for holding the charity auction and would like to thank all those that took part."
