A TOILET block in Hartlepool could close over worries of the continuing increase in drug abuse and vandalism.
The block, in Brenda Road, a residential area, is still in quite good condition and is used by delivery drivers and travelling sales reps.
In recent years, since the closure of Foggy Furze toilets, there has been a rise in the level of drug and other abuse and vandalism at the toilets, which has led to concern from local residents and the dental practice nearby.
A report to Hartlepool Borough Council said: "The level of drug abuse reported by local residents had now reached the point where careful consideration needed to be given to closing the toilet block.
"Frequent drug abuse, evidenced by the amount of used needles, was substantiated by the toilet cleaner and other council officers."
