Actor Kevin Whateley met local Baptist minister Graham Brownlee, above, yesterday, and discovered that his mother taught the churchman history at Hexham High School in the 1970s.
Mr Brownlee, chairman of the Redcar and Cleveland Partnership and the joint South Bank and Grangetown Single Regeneration Budget, said: "We welcome the Auf Wiedersehen Pet production team as they film in South Bank. We know that the story line will have a blend of grit and resilience and we know that South Bank has been chosen because it is dealing with those same gritty issues.
