A man has been charged with burgling a home in Oakley Green, West Auckland, and a shed in Leazes Lane, Bishop Auckland.
David Anthony Barker, 22, from Melrose Drive, Bishop Auckland, appeared before Sedgefield Magistrates' Court yesterday.
He was also jointly charged with theft from an unoccupied council house with David Whitworth, 25, from Bishop Auckland.
Mr Barker has been remanded in custody and will appear again before magistrates on September 19.
