MORE than 80 carers and clients travelled to east Durham to take part in an It's A Knockout competition.

Representing four day centres for adults with learning disabilities from across the county, the competitors travelled to the Shinwell Centre, in Peterlee.

The competition included events from races to welly boot throwing, as well as a race suitable for wheelchair-bound competitors.

A spokesman for County Durham Care said the event, which had been postponed since July, had proved an outstanding success.

"There was no outright winner. It was just meant as a fun day for everyone and it certainly proved to be that," he said.
