A HARD-working consumer watchdog has received a national accolade.

The work of Redcar and Cleveland Trading Standards' consumer and money advice service is being recognised in the presentation of a Legal Services Quality Mark.

The department dealt with over 1,800 consumer complaints, last year, over 3,000 general inquiries and helped win financial redress totalling over £70,000.

Staff also offered debt management advice including running outreach 'surgeries' in Guisborough, Loftus, Skelton and South Bank, dealing with 179 new advice clients with debts totalling £1.5m.
