PEOPLE in Thornaby are celebrating after they won their battle to save their post office.
Following a huge public consultation with householders and MP for Stockton south, Dari Taylor, the Post Office Network decided not to relocate the post office in Oxford Road, Thornaby to Lanehouse Road.
Ms Taylor said: "I am delighted at this news. Local residents did not want their post office closed and relocated to another part of Thornaby and made this clear to the Post Office Network."
A spokesman for the Post Office said: "We held a consultation process about the possibility of moving this office to a new location but we have now decided that it will remain in its present location for the forseeable future."
