A DRIVER who sped up a one-way street wrecking cars and injuring several people was jailed for 12 months yesterday.
Mark Billingham, 36, of Trafalgar Terrace, Darlington, was three times over the drink-drive limit as he drove his Range Rover Discovery the wrong way out of a pub car park, York Crown Court heard.
Simon Hickey, prosecuting, said Billingham, a vehicle satellite system installer, left four badly damaged cars and three injured people in his mile-long wake of destruction through Tadcaster.
Billingham, admitted dangerous driving at midnight on February 22.
Jailing him, Recorder Henry Prosser said: "It was an alarming and appalling piece of driving and you acted like a complete lunatic."
Sam Andrews, for Billingham, said had been suffering marital and financial problems. Billingham, who has two previous drink-drive convictions, was also banned from driving for three years.
