Newton Aycliffe - Peter Milburn and Sue Milburn have had an outstanding week, both producing excellent times.
In the Amble Dolphin run, a tough 10k over sand and road, Peter Milburn managed a very good fourth, ahead of the fast-improving Brent Morfoot 23rd, with John Burnside 24th and Sue Milburn 25th as first lady.
Other members: Peter Towler 51mins, Dave McKenzie and Ray Todd 52mins, Pat Edwards 55mins, Dave McDonald 57mins, Meryl Gregg and Wilf Graham 61mins.
In the 4k fun run Mathew Bell won in a time of 18:43 secs and Dawn Reid managed a creditable 32:16 secs.
Mathew Bell was the club's only entrant for the Marske 5k road race finishing in an excellent time of 17:28 for 16th place.
The Billingham Marsh House 10k road race, ran in very windy conditions, saw Peter Milburn back first for the club in 35mins as second O-40, with Colin Gibson going well in 38:18, ahead of Sue Milburn as first lady again to record a personal best in 40:15. John Burnside also managed 40mins, with Dave McDonald also running a personal best for 48:30, ahead of Pat Edwards in 48:49.
l Winter indoor training will begin the first Tuesday in October at the Oakleaf in Newton Aycliffe (6-7). It will consist of circuit training and general fitness and is suitable for anybody. Ring Colin (01325) 320362.
New Marske Harriers
The last race in the New Marske Road Series was the coast road Autumn 5km and it proved to be a very close finish. Paul Lowe (Mandale) battled it out with Alan Stimpson (NMH) with the former breaking the tape in 15 minutes 19 seconds and Alan one second behind in second place.
Third was Matty Tomlinson (Chester-le-Street) 15:36 and Shaun O'Grady (NHM) was fourth in 15:50.
The star of the night was Karen Hind (Gateshead Harriers) who finished sixth overall in 16:10 to clinch age graded prize with 89.04 per cent.

Darlington Harriers
The Harriers had a successful day at the Auckland Castle 10km Road Race with the first of the club's runners coming home in 53rd place. That was Ben Wilson who managed a time of 36.54.

At the Thornaby Town 10km on September 2, Martin Grainger completed the course in 31.31.

At the Lewisburn fell race near Kielder forest Susan Davis was first lady vet and second lady overall. The race was over a distance of seven mile and involved 800 feet of ascent
