QUAKERS make the long haul to Torquay tomorrow with their unbeaten run stretching to five games after a home draw with Carlisle United.
It was the lowly Cumbrians who quickly took control at Feethams on Saturday, with direct attackers Steven Halliday and Richie Foran causing Darlington's back line all sorts of problems.
After 20 minutes, the visitors were ahead when Halliday volleyed home after a deflection. After 37 minutes it was two, Craig Liddle conceding a penalty after handling in the box. Foran netted the spot kick.
In first half injury time, Quakers at last got going and Danny Mellanby put through Neil Wainwright for the ex-Sunderland winger to neatly score his first goal of the season.
Foran missed a great opportunity to make it 3-1 in an end-to-end second-half, spooning over from three yards out. Still it seemed Carlisle would hang on, but in stoppage time a long throw from Paul Heckingbottom - back after a lengthy lay-off through injury - eluded the United defence and Barry Conlon's flick found the far corner of the net, to the relief of the home fans.
On Tuesday night, Quakers are at home to Leyton Orient.
