Liverton Road, passing through the village of Liverton Mines, near Loftus, will be closed for three weeks from Monday. This will allow for the reconstruction of Liverton Bank, resurfacing of the road between the railway bridge and Station Hotel and major drainage improvements in the area.
Redcar and Cleveland Council says the road closure is necessary for public safety and the safety of site workers.
A special shuttle service will be introduced because, the council warns, normal bus services will be severely disrupted.
Various road closures will be introduced across the village from Monday to allow for drainage and resurfacing work. During this time access to streets will be maintained for residents, businesses and emergency vehicles only.
Residents used to parking on affected stretches of road will have to make alternative arrangements while work continues. It is expected to be complete in early October.
Anyone with concerns or special access requirements should contact council staff on (01642) 444619 or 444814.
