TWO men were being quizzed by police yesterday after an early morning blaze which claimed the life of a young woman.

The woman, who has yet to be named, died in hospital in Scarborough where she had been taken suffering from smoke inhalation.

The alarm was raised at about 5.50am yesterday when two middle-aged men escaped from the three-storey terraced house on Trafalgar Road, Scarborough.

The woman was pulled out of a smoke-filled room on the first floor by firefighters. Her bedroom suffered major heat damage and the rest of the building was left badly smoke-damaged.

A police spokesman said that two men had been arrested and were being questioned about the blaze.
