YOUNG talent will be give the chance to shine as a theatre project brings glamour to the amateur stage.
Dioynsis Theatre Company, which describes itself as the "new theatrical experience for the North-East", aims to hunt out the region's top young performers and put them under the spotlight.
The company, named after the Greek god of theatre, was launched at a ceremony at Whitworth Hall, near Spennymoor, County Durham, where youngsters gave a taster of the type of slick, professional performances that audiences will be able to expect.
Dioynsis production manager Hugh Conway said: "We are hoping to become recognised as one of the leading lights of the amateur theatre."
The company's first production will be 42nd Street but, with the cost of staging the show estimated at £25,000, one of the first hurdles will be finding sponsorship.
