former England and Liverpool footballer Emlyn Hughes is to help a North-East school celebrate its diamond jubilee.
The soccer star will be the guest of honour at St Peter's RC Comprehensive School, at South Bank, Middlesbrough, for a special prize-giving ceremony on Thursday, November 15.
The school is also inviting former pupils, staff and friends to a jubilee celebration on Saturday, October 6, which includes a buffet and two live bands. Tickets, priced £5, are available from the school.
The school will be open during the day for old pupils and staff to meet and view a selection of old photographs, from the school's opening in 1941 to the present day.
Headteacher Peter Cornally said that the celebrations marked an important landmark for the school, which has an interesting history.
