A WILDLIFE area is to be improved, thanks to a number of workshops involving members of the public.
The scheme, being carried out by the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust, will involve participants in every aspect of the project, from planning and calculating costs to doing the work.
They will have the opportunity to improve their English and maths skills at the same time.
Steve Ashton, education officer for the trust, said: "This is an ideal opportunity for people who are lacking in confidence to come along and get their hands dirty and do something positive for the environment, and improve their own skills at the same time."
The scheme, sponsored by the Adult and Community Learning Fund, will also lead to qualifications for the participants, in the form of Open College Network Credits in Environmental Skills.
The workshops start on Tuesday, September 25, at 10am, at the Coatham Local Learning Centre, in Redcar, followed by a visit to the Coatham Marsh.
Anyone interested is asked to call Mr Ashton on (01642) 759900, or turn up on the day. Help is also available with transport and childcare costs.
