A NINE-year-old Darlington schoolboy has raised £100 for the town's St Teresa's Hospice and a football team by taking part in a fun run.
Michael Thurloway, who attends St Teresa's Primary School, came 69th out of 297 runners in the 2km Darlington Fun Run.
Half of the money will go to the hospice, while the rest will go to the Albion Boys Club, for which he plays.
Michael said: "The fun run was really good and I'm pleased I managed to raise so much money for St Teresa's and my football club.
"Loads of people took part in the run and I was very excited when I found out I had come 69th out of so many competitors."
Hospice director Jane Bradshaw said: "Every penny helps St Teresa's Hospice continue to provide great care and support to those suffering from life limiting illnesses in and around Darlington.
"We are delighted to receive the cheque for £50 from such a young supporter and would like to thank Michael for his dedication."
