DARLINGTON Football Club has vowed to do everything in its power to have Internet porn wiped from its former web address.

The site - which has an address almost identical to the club's new domain - has been turned into a link page to a site offering "uncensored sex scenes" of stars such as Britney Spears and Anna Kournikova.

The club lost control of the site it formerly rented when it changed domains from www.darlingtonfc.net, which has now been taken over by the porn peddlers, to its new address, www.darlington-fc.net

Directors have been trying frantically to stop the new owners, whose identity is unknown, from putting porn on the site.

People logging on are warned: "This website contains adult material not appropriate to be viewed by minors. If you are not 21 or older please do NOT enter."

Until this week, the pages inside were marked "under construction", but have now been filled with the pictures.

On entering the site, visitors are taken to the opening pages of the members-only Secretceleb.com, featuring pictures of stars such Pamela Anderson, accompanied by a promise of pornographic video footage.

There, they are told: "Welcome to the most scandalous celebrity sex site on the internet! We dig deep to find those coveted never-before-seen photos of your favorite (sic) stars!"

To see the promised pictures, visitors must apply for membership through an online form.

However, while viewing only the opening page, unwitting football fans are also hounded by other "popup" sites, with titles such as Porn For All, offering similar pictures.

Quakers' PR director Luke Raine said all efforts so far to rid the site of porn had drawn a blank.

"I'm not against adult people doing what they want to do in privacy, but this is not private," he said.

"It's there for kids to see. I'm appalled by it. Parents won't think that kids are going to get anything untoward by logging on to a football site.

Mr Raine said it was frustrating that the club did not appear to be able to do anything about it.

But he assured fans the club had nothing to do with the site and added: "We will pursue it as far as we can to try to get it resolved."

Fans are urged to take care to use the correct address: www.darlington-fc.net
