THE Cleveland Police crime prevention bus hits the road this week taking officers to outlying villages in the area.
The bus will act as a mobile police station for the Community Policing Team with a series of planned stops at east Cleveland villages without a permanent police station.
Today, the bus will be stopping at Kilbridge Close shops, at New Marske, from 10am until 6pm, and tomorrow it will be at Windy Hill Lane car park, Marske, from 11am until 9pm.
On Wednesday, it stops at Laburnum Road, Brotton, and on Thursday morning it will be at Lingdale Community Centre and at Boosbeck High Street in the afternoon. Its final stop, on Friday, will be at Bylands Road, Skelton.
Sergeant Richie Schofield said the use of the mobile station enabled police to have a more visible presence.
Crime Prevention Officer Jim Brown will also be out and about, giving help and advice to local residents.
Detective Superintendent Ian Garrett said police are always on patrol in the communities, but having a mobile police station on the streets in busy areas gives a high-visibility presence.
"By taking the police station to such public places it gives us a very visible presence and allows officers to complete foot patrols in towns and villages that don't have a police station," he said.
