A scheme to regenerate a former derelict stable courtyard has scooped one of the top honours in the RICS Pro Yorkshire Awards.
The Aske Stables project on the Aske Estate, in Richmond, North Yorkshire, was voted the best entry in the commercial category in recognition of its contribution to the rural economy.
The area was a derelict redundant listed stable courtyard when Rural Solutions Limited, of Skipton, were commissioned by The Earl of Ronaldshay to provide a concept-to-completion scheme for the regeneration and preservation of what was regarded as a magnificent building.
Last year, planning permission was granted and the scheme went ahead to provide more than 20,000sqft of office space.
Since its completion in July last year, 12 companies have moved in employing more than 70 people.
At a dinner at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, Mhairi Mercer, of Aske Stables, was presented with the award by Martin Needler, a partner with EC Harris, sponsors of the commercial category.
The Pro Yorkshire Awards were launched this year by the Yorkshire and Humber region of RICS as a way of identifying and honouring excellence in the region in six categories - social, commercial, residential, tourism, design/innovation and regeneration/conservation
