THOMAS the Tank Engine steamed into a primary school yesterday, to teach youngsters about air travel.
The hot air balloon replica of the children's television character visited St Andrew's Primary School -known as Henknowle Primary until September 1 - and had children enthralled.
The visit was to help children at the Bishop Auckland school learn about the theory of flight.
Headteacher Dave Hutchinson said: "Everyone was amazed by the size of the balloon. It is 28 metres high when inflated. They only managed to inflate one of the six wheels of the train because it was so windy. But the kids thoroughly enjoyed it."
