LEAD developer at Teesdale Business Park, Terrace Hill, has signed up a tenant for its Discovery building development, just three months after it got under way.
Dutch oil company Petroplus, which acquired the former Phillips-Imperial Petroleum refinery earlier this year, is at the old ICI Wilton site but plans to move its headquarters to the Discovery building, at Teesdale, on its completion in November.
The high-spec building will provide 10,150sq ft of accommodation on three floors.
Dr Peter Cornes, managing director of Petroplus UK, was quick to recognise the benefits of the Discovery building after surveying potential accommodation in the surrounding area.
"Teesdale is not only Teesside's biggest business park, but it is also extremely well located and has excellent amenities.
"We did consider other sites on Teesside, in Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and Wynyard, but felt the Discovery building in the St Mark's Basin area of the business park was best suited to our needs."
He added: "Petroplus is a rapidly growing company with the clear target being to be Europe's leading independent oil company.
"Terrace Hill has been open and flexible throughout the negotiations and has made every effort to accommodate our needs."
Philip Leech, director of Terrace Hill, is delighted at how the Discovery building fared in relation to other buildings currently on the market.
He said: "It is pleasing to hear that Discovery fared so well when compared to other building on offer elsewhere in the region.
"We are working closely with Petroplus on the fit-out of the offices to provide a high standard of customisation that includes space planning, interior design and the provision of comprehensive ICT services.
"With the complete turnkey approach, the Petroplus team will simply need to plug in and switch on when they move in."
Only two buildings remain to be developed at the St Mark's Basin area. They are Resolution, a 42,540sqft office with 178 parking spaces, and Westminster, providing 23,300sq ft of accommodation and 95 parking spaces.
