Dog-lover Trevor Ord saved the life of a newborn puppy - thanks to his favourite TV programme.
When the puppy arrived among a litter of 13, it was motionless and was not breathing.
But Mr Ord remembered seeing an episode of Pet Rescue, describing how to resuscitate a pet, and he set to work.
He picked up the lifeless brown and white puppy and began raising and lowering it to and from the floor.
He then gave it the kiss of life, breathing on to its mouth and pressing on its chest, at which point the puppy came back to life.
Mr Ord, 33, of Dipton, County Durham, said: "I just kept it warm next to the fire and continued breathing into its mouth.
"Then it just started breathing again. I guess it's lucky 13 for him."
The puppies were born to Mr Ord's pet springer spaniel, Holly, who had previously produced a litter of seven.
Local vet John Falconer, praised the Channel Four programme.
He said: "The presence of such television shows has made the public much more aware of what to do in an emergency.
"Thirteen puppies is certainly a lot for a springer spaniel. I would normally expect to deliver eight or nine."
