A WALK which tells the story of the industrial beginnings of Middlesbrough celebrates its first anniversary this week.
And local people are invited to follow the trail with Robin Daniels, of Tees Archaeology, on Thursday, at 2pm.
He will lead walkers around the Millennium Ironmasters' Trail and visit sites which once saw a thriving iron and steel industry, employing thousands of workers.
Now the areas support different species of flowers and wildlife, including salmon and seals which are returning to the Tees.
The trail follows newly- reinstated paths and features to help walkers understand the history of the area.
The Ironmasters' Trail was developed by Middlesbrough Borough Council, Tees Archaeology and the Cleveland Industrial Archaeology Society.
Everyone is welcome on the free walk, which lasts about two hours. Walkers should meet at 2pm in the car park at Teessaurus Park, Riverside Road, with sturdy footwear and waterproofs.
A pick-up service is available from Middlesbrough town centre. For details, phone (01642) 515611.
